7 signs of a plumbing emergency

You can’t afford to wait when water is on the floor. These are the signs that the house needs a plumber, not a wait-and-see.

  • Overflowing toilets
  • Frozen pipes
  • Sudden loss of water pressure
  • Mold growth
  • Standing water in basements
  • Loss of hot water
  • Sudden spike in water bills

First, stop the water

Before any repair, the house has to be dry enough to work. If you can, shut the valve at the fixture. If that valve is painted shut or spins, shut the house at the meter or the main in the basement. Then call or text. A photo of the break and a sentence about where the water is going — ceiling, kitchen, basement — is enough to know what to load.

We do not advertise around-the-clock coverage. We do take urgent plumbing when we can get to you, and we will say so on the phone. Labor is quoted once we see the break; materials are yours or billed at cost.

After the line is capped or replaced, we can talk about drying and whether water damage cleanup is next. The plumbing repair and the drying are different jobs.

Labor

If the problem is a clogged toilet, posted clog labor is $200. Burst lines, hidden leaks, and failed mains are quoted on site. Call or text (508) 335-3306.

What you can do while you wait

  • Shut water at the fixture, then at the house if the fixture stop fails.
  • Move rugs and boxes. Electricity and standing water do not mix — stay out of a flooded room if cords are in the water.
  • Catch the drip in a pan so we can see the rate when we arrive.
  • Do not crank a frozen valve with a cheater bar. That is how you snap the stem and lose the only shutoff you had.
  • If a toilet is overflowing, lift the tank lid and close the fill valve, or pull the flapper chain down.

Frequently asked questions

Are you available 24 hours?

No. We do not claim 24/7 dispatch. Call or text (508) 335-3306. If we can come, we will tell you a window. If we cannot, we will say that too.

The ceiling is wet. Do I open it?

Not unless you have to save the floor below. Shut the water, catch the drip, and wait for us to find the line. Opening a ceiling in the wrong bay just makes two messes.

Is a burst pipe also a water-damage job?

The pipe is plumbing. Wet drywall, flooring, and belongings are water damage. We can discuss both.
